The Cocktail Time Dry as it’s also known is powered by the popular 6R15 caliber self-winding mechanical movement and features a date display on the dial. I wanted to get things started with a quick skim through some of the technical specifications for the Seiko SARB066. This simply gives you a chance to have a quick look through to instantly see if this is the type of watch you’re going to like or not. For example, some people wouldn’t want to go for a very large, or smaller watch.

Seiko SARB066 Dial and Casing Design
I have to say, I love the design of the Seiko SARB066 dial, it has such a striking finish to it which really draws in your eyes. This is complemented beautifully by the black hands and hour markers along with the oversized Roman numerals used for the 12 and 6 o’clock positions.
There’s a useful date indicator located at the 3 o’clock position on the dial. The terms ‘Seiko’, ‘Automatic’ and ’23 jewels’ can also be found on the dial.
The casing of this Seiko SARB066 is made of stainless steel with a PVD gold coloured finish. The diameter of the casing is approximately 40mm with a thickness of 13mm making it a popular size for men’s watches.
The crown is located at the 3 o’clock position and does not screw down on this model.
Strap & Clasp
The strap of the Seiko SARB066 is made of a soft genuine leather and fastens with a standard buckle style clasp. The width of this leather strap is 20mm. The strap can be replaced if you wish to do so. The size of the gap between the lugs is 19mm. Purchase a watch repair kit for all the tools required for this job.
The Seiko SARB066 Movement
At the heart of this Seiko watch is a 6R15 caliber automatic movement. This is a 23 jewel movement that beats at 21,600 BPH to give the watch a smooth 6 ticks per second. This is a much smoother movement than a traditional quartz which ticks once per second.
When fully wound the movement should run for up to 50 hours and will continue to self-wind from the movement of your wrist. The movement can be manually wound and hacked, hacking is where the second hand stops when the crown is pulled out.
Seiko SARB066 Crystal
On the front of the timepiece is a Seiko Hardlex crystal glass. This is a proprietary glass owned by Seiko and used in many of their watches. You’ll commonly find this is many Seiko, Pulsar, and Lorus watches. Seiko’s Hardlex glass is a specially toughened mineral crystal glass that offers a high level of resistance to knocks and scratches.

SARB066 Water Resistance
The water resistance rating of the Seiko SARB066 is 50m, also known as 5 bar. As per wikipedia, this is suitable for swimming, white water rafting, and fishing. Note that this is not suitable for diving or snorkeling. Note that the crown on this watch does not screw down.

Overall I’m a massive fan of this classic Seiko timepiece. The SARB066 has an absolutely stunning dial in my opinion, and I love the use of the oversized Roman numerals at the 12 and 6 o’clock positions on the dial.
If you’re after a classic men’s dress watch that offers style and value for money, then the Seiko SARB066 is definitely a timepiece to consider.
The watch is powered by a well-known reliable 23 jewel automatic movement that gives you a really smooth second hand movement with its 6 ticks per second which is something I personally really like in an automatic watch.
