Seiko Orange Monster Watch Review
A key feature of this Seiko dive watch is the vibrant orange dial that’s made it an instantly recognisable hit. The 2nd generation Orange Monster has a clear easy to read display with these bold hour markers and hands which are typical of diving watches. The hands and hour markers are coated in a good amount of lume to make them extra easy to read in dim lit conditions. There’s a day and date display located at the 3 o’clock position too.
The casing of the Orange Monster is made of a strong stainless steel with a screw down crown located at the 4 o’clock position. There’s a uni-directional rotating bezel with minute numbering featured on it.
Seiko Orange Monster Type Of Crystal
The Seiko Orange Monster features a Hardlex crystal glass that’s commonly found on many Seiko timepieces. This is a durable crystal that’s stronger than mineral glass but weaker than sapphire. It offers a good level of protection from scratches and knocks.
Seiko Orange Monster Watch Movement
Powering the Seiko Monster is a 4R36 caliber automatic 24 jewel movement. This automatic movement has a 41 hour power reserve and beats at 21,600 BPH giving it a nice smooth 6 ticks per second. The movement features both manual winding and hacking. You can learn all about this in my Seiko 4R36 movement review.
Seiko Monster Watch Size
The casing of the Seiko Monster measures 42mm in diameter, not including the crown. The thickness of the casing comes it at approximately 12mm. This is a large-medium sized watch that’s a popular size for diving timepieces.
Seiko SRP309 Strap
The strap of the Seiko Orange Monster is made of a strong stainless steel and measures 20mm in width. It fastens with a fold over style clasp that includes a safety catch. The strap can be replaced if you decide that’s something you would like to do.
Seiko Monster Water Resistance Rating
The Seiko Orange Monster has a very good water resistance rating, as you’d expect from a high quality Seiko diving watch. A Diver’s 200m or 20 bar rating makes this watch suitable for scuba diving at depths not suitable for saturation diving.
