Seiko SNXS73 Watch Review
The dial of this popular Seiko watch has a fairly simple easy to read display. The hands and hour markers are very easy to read and come with a generous coating of lume to make them nice and visible in the dark. There’s also a handy day and date display at the 3 o’clock position that I quite like. As is popular with the Seiko 5 range you’ll find the crown in a recessed 4 o’clock position which is a little different to the norm. The casing itself is made of a sturdy stainless steel and features an exhibition caseback which I’m a big fan of.
Type Of Crystal
Like most of the Seiko 5 collection, the SNXS73 features a Seiko Hardlex glass. This type of glass is specially hardened to be extra resistant to scratches and knocks. It’s pretty popular among watch fans and I’m happy to see it featured in this model.
Watch Movement
At the heart of this timepiece is a 7S26 caliber 21 jewel Japanese automatic movement. This is a self-winding automatic movement that cannot be manually wound or hacked. This movement makes the watch tick 6 times per second which gives it a much smooth movement than a quartz movement that would move at 1 tick per second. It has a power reserve of roughly 43 hours which is pretty good for an automatic watch in this price range.
Watch Size
As with many of the Seiko 5 watches, you’ll find it’s a little smaller that a lot of the more popular timepieces these days, but a lot of people like this about them. The casing width measures 37mm not including the crown. This is a medium sized watch that should prove popular for a wide range of people. The thickness comes in at 11mm which is also a nice middle of the range size. Unlike many of the larger watches you see around these days, this model is much better suited for those of you with smaller wrists.
Strap
Like the casing, the strap is made of stainless steel and measures approximately 20mm wide. It has a standard fold over style clasp that’s very simple and easy to operate.
Extra Features
On the dial, there’s an easy to read day and date display. As well as a good use of lume on the hands and hour markers which can come in handy in dim lit conditions.
Another one of my favourite features is the exhibition caseback. This is a glass backing that allows you to take a look at the inner workings of the watch, pretty cool in my opinion.
Water Resistance Rating
There’s not a huge amount to say about the water resistance rating as it’s fairly basic at just 30m or 3 bar. This 30m water resistance rating makes the watch suitable for everyday use. Splash/rain resistant. Not suitable for showering, bathing, swimming, snorkelling, water related work and fishing.

Good review and I totally agree that for the price it is hard to beat this lovely little automatic. I would say the only negative point is the cheap folded metal bracelet but it is more than usable.
Should you want to change it – and you should because the SNXS series look fantastic with leather straps – be aware that the lug spacing is 19mm.
