Watch Review
Intro
Rotary were established in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland back in 1895 by Moise Dreyfuss and have been creating stunning affordable timepieces ever since. Today we’re taking a look at one of their very affordable automatic watches that features a skeleton dial.
The design of the dial is very striking on this timepiece, the blue detailings really stand out against the stainless steel casing. Obviously, a key feature of the dial is the skeletonized design that allows you to take a peek at the inner workings of the watch movement. The hour and minute hands are both coated with lume to make it easier to read in dim lit conditions which is a handy feature.
Type Of Crystal
Protecting the dial we have a mineral crystal glass. Mineral glass is specially hardened to offer extra protection from scratches and knocks. It also has a fairly good rating for shatter resistance in case you do drop your watch. At this price level mineral glass is often what I expect to find on watches.
Watch Movement
Powering the watch is a Japanese Miyota automatic movement. Automatic movements are often preferred over a quartz movement. They’re powered by the movement of the wearer’s wrist and never require a battery.
Watch Size
This sizing of the watch is fairly standard so should suit most wrist sizes. It has a 40mm casing diameter along with a 11mm case thickness.
Strap
The strap is made of a soft genuine leather that has a width of 20mm which is a standard size. The strap fastens with a typical buckle style clasp which can be seen in the image further below.
Extra features
A key extra feature of this timepiece is the exhibition caseback that’s found in many of Rotary’s automatic watches. This allows you to take a look at the inner workings of the watch through the rear casing.
Water Resistance Rating
The water resistance level isn’t a key feature of this watch but it does still come with a 50m rating. A rating of 50m / 5 Bar / 150ft makes this watch suitable for swimming, white water rafting, non-snorkeling water related work, and fishing.

- If unworn for a length of time an automatic watch will run out of power, requiring the wearer to give it an initial wind and reset the time. This is common in automatic watches but still something some people find annoying.
